If you're a fan of Salsa music, then you won't want to miss the chance to listen to the excellent and well performed songs on the CD, "Me Esta Gustando / I'm Liking It."

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out FIESTA Orchestra's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Helium Light Bands" by gramps.doc (Rock Artist from Los Angeles,CA)

The talents of gramps.doc are innovating as the recently released album, "Helium Light Bands," explores interesting compositions of Classical, Rock, and Punk genres. This CD discovers musical freedom as the variety of songs proves to be captivating and melodic. Starting off the CD, "Gotta Change Your Tude," is Punk music at its best as the gritty vocals spin around the crunchy guitar riffs. Changing over to the Classical music side, "Synthetizer Sonata," is a modern twist of Mozart like styling as the synth sounds play with intense precision. A fury of guitar hooks and edgy vocals rock the beat on the track, "Slave of the State." "If you enjoy a varied mix of music that verge on Rock styling, then you will enjoy the cutting edge songs on, "Helium Light Bands."

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out gramps.doc 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Got Mambo?" by Tito Puente, Jr. (Latin Artist from New York City, NY)

Put on your dancing shoes because the newest album by TITO PUENTE JR Y SU ORQUESTRA titled "GOT MAMBO?" will have you moving in no time to the vibrant beats. For instance, the fast-paced and fun "Baiao" is well crafted with moving drum beats that compliment the melodic melody of the guitar and sax. The title track "Batida Diferente" pulls off some expert tempo changes with ease, showing off the talent of all the players. The album, "Batida Diferente," isn't just for fans of Latin Jazz or dance clubs; it's for all listeners who can appreciate outstanding music played with expert musicianship.

-Matt M. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Norberto Goldberg's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Del Castillo" by Del Castillo (Latin Artist from Texas(TX))

The Latin Rock fusion band Del Castillo and their self-titled album is a thorough blend of styles from all around Latin America and Spain coupled with sultry, romantic, and even tragic lyrics. All thirteen tracks will pull the listener into dramatic sounds of flamenco guitars and the lively beats of conga and bongo drums. "Boricua del Cielo" is a flamenco salsa crossover that opens the CD giving a perfect introduction to the style of this band. The song speaks of an enchanting woman who seems to have 'magic' in the way that she dances. The harmony in this track brings a lot of life to the lyrics and it's near impossible to not dance or at least want to when listening. "Anybody Wanna" is a Spanglish cumbia-rock combo that has an easy going sound throughout the track, but invites the listener to dance at the same time. A standard drum set is prominent in this track and the lead singer's strong vocal range is fully showcased. Where the Gypsy Kings and Los Lonely Boys met is where Del Castillo was created. This is a CD that can and will be enjoyed by aficionados of multiple musical tastes.

-Trent C. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Del Castillo's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

RadioIndy is pleased to present Jonas with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Por que fingiste Amarme "

RadioIndy is pleased to present Jonas with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Por que fingiste Amarme "
Accomplished vocalist Jonas's newest CD "Por que fingiste Amarme," hits the music scene with Latin pop and a touch of rock finesse. Jonas doesn't have to reach far to sing to the skies as his vocals have full-bodied Latin flavor, which caresses the emotive lyrics of his songs. Lively and vibrant, "Por que no," wows the listener with a bright and catchy synth sound and a rock solid bass line that complements Jonas' colorful vocals. The lovely orchestration of instruments on "Simplemente" illuminates the strong, bold, and heartfelt lyrics. Slicing into the rock genre, "Amor inconcluso," features some rip roaring guitar riffs embellished with chilling synth sounds. Charming piano decorates the stunning lyrics on "No quiero más de tu veneno," while the subtle strings dance around the vocals. Experience the great talents of Jonas and his album "Por que fingiste Amarme," jam-packed with Latin pop and a sprinkling of rock.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Jonas 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Island Ecstasy" by Frank Tuma (Latin Artist from Florida(FL))

"Island Ecstasy," the new CD from Frank Tuma, is designed to transport us all to the warm Caribbean Islands. It is an instrumental album replete with all the variety of Caribbean style percussive instruments, guitars, and piano, accompanied with a heavy emphasis upon the upbeat and expressive steel drum. On the first track, "Caribbean Dancing," there is a quick and excited beat over which we hear talented steel drumming played at a speed that will baffle and excite the ears. "A Bit of Africa in the Caribbean" is a song that lives up to its title as it is a cool blend of African and Island drum sounds, with flutes and steel drums doing the singing. For the song, "Living My Dreams," Frank slows it down a little and uses his island rhythms as a relaxant. Whether you are already a fan of the sounds of the Caribbean Islands, or appreciate when an album attempts to mentally transport you to another place, then you should give the "Island Ecstasy" The background instrumentation is relatively simple throughout the album, yet it is professional and not overbearing. This is because the focus of this instrumental album, is on Mary's articulate and skilled guitar playing. On "Black Magic Woman" we really get a sense of Mary's bluesy side as she plays with soul and gusto. On "Apache" we are presented with a quasi-soothing western song in which she lets her guitar sing out in a lovely fashion. On the final track, "Canon Rock," Grandma Mary rips out some hot rock lead guitar riffs! This album is filled with numerous genres and sounds; it is for the most part a tranquil album, with some rockers mixed in as well. You will appreciate this album if you want to be inspired by an album that demonstrates that a love for music is a lifelong passion.

-Sean B. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out GRANDMAMARY's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

RadioIndy is pleased to present Kenny Quintero Y Su Orquesta Brava with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Soy Hijo De Un Pueblo Latino"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Kenny Quintero Y Su Orquesta Brava with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Soy Hijo De Un Pueblo Latino"
Kenny Quintero Y Su Orquesta Brava serve up a vibrant and entertaining treat on the recently released disc "Soy Hijo De Un Pueblo Latino." Solo artist, Nelson Llompart gives an outstanding performance with his suave and sophisticated vocals. The production quality is great, as the vocals are crisp and clean while the instruments enhance the melodic arrangements. "Enamorados Por Siempre" displays a horn section which gives this pulsating tune an added uplifting pizzazz. Feel the bouncy beats of the percussion on "Búscandote" as they play in rhythmic time. Let the syncopated rhythms on "Chica Bye Bye" groove from the top of your head to your tapping toes. Nelson Llompart's "Llegó Mi Hora" is a must-have addition for any aficionado of the bold and vibrant salsa rhythms.

-Diane and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Nelson Llompart 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

RadioIndy is pleased to present Gal Tamir with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Voluntad"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Gal Tamir with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Voluntad"
From the stages of theatre to the world of pop music, Gal Tamir is proving his worth with "Voluntad." Between being raised in Israel and performing on stage in various plays such as Grease, Tamir gathers up all of his influences to produce a well written Latin pop record. His warm, mature voice is really what makes this album come alive and it does not let you down. A solo vocal on "Nadie Nos Vio" shows Tamir's vocal range and just what he has to offer. There is also a beautiful duet with a lead female vocalist on "Sueno," which compliments Tamir's voice very nicely. Also, keep your ears alert for the standard Latin dance number on the track "Donde Van?." Any fan that is fluent in Spanish or a fan of Latin pop music will thoroughly enjoy "Voluntad."

-Shaun H. and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Gal Tamir's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Por que fingiste Amarme" by Jonas (Latin Artist from Argentina)

Although the disc is sung in Spanish, any listener will want to hear Ephrem's crisp and clean vocals and the strong and solid rhythm section. The CD opens up to an upbeat start with the lounge grooves of the song "Tequero." Ephrem also gives the listener a few options as he displays two wonderful versions of his song "Ella." One version is a saucy salsa mix while the other has a mid-90's light rock tone to it. "Latin Evolution" is a great addition to any fans of Latin music and is well worth hearing.

-Shaun H. and the RadioIndy Reviewer Team
Check out Ephrem J's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Llegó Mi Hora" by Nelson Llompart (Latin Artist from Florida(FL))

Put on your dancing shoes and let the vibrant and upbeat salsa rhythms sweep you away on "Llegó Mi Hora." Tuma has compiled a wonderful selection of island music splashed with flavorful textures of Latin and jazz. Production is first-rate as the multi-layered instruments are well mixed and tempos are moderate with an uplifting spirit. The zest of each instrument really brings forth the essence of a tropical paradise and invigorates one's mind and body. "Wild Bossa Nova" is an exciting arrangement in a call-and-response form from the bright synth horns and guitar. A striking synth brass section carries a delightful melody in "New York Salsa" as the percussion keeps a solid beat. Bob Marley and/or Harry Belafonte fans will want to check out "Island Birth," as it is an engaging collection of energetic Latin/jazz music from a tropical setting.

-Diane And the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Frank Tuma 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Voluntad" by Gal Tamir (Latin Artist from South America)

"Celebrando 20 Años" is the impressive new release from the San Francisco Bay Area based Salsa band known as Candela, led by Edgardo Cambón. The core instrumentation is piano, bass, three trombones, conga drums, bongo drums, timbales and vocalists. Their sound is characterized by energetic musical performances featuring great vocals unique to the genre, a solid rhythm section and powerful ensemble figures from the trombones. Their music combines and integrates many Afro-Cuban styles including the Mambo, Cha-Cha-Chá, Merengue, and Bolero. The opener, "El Flaco" features a great piano rhythm, embellished by the fine percussion section and reinforced by superb vocals. Their sound is highly original, very infectious and extremely danceable. For perfect examples of this, listen to the enthusiastic "Tumba, Timba y Trombón" which features a fabulous trombone solo and the lively "Yo Vine a Bailar La Salsa," which features outstanding vocal passages. The spirited acoustic guitar work and female lead vocal on the smooth "Corazón" give this track a great brazilian flavor. The impressive "Celebrando 20 Años" by Edgardo & Candela will have you dancing in no time and will be enjoyed by fans of Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, and Ray Barretto.

Sadownick is no newcomer to the ears of music fans as he has recorded and toured extensively with Steely Dan, Al Green, The Roots, Jennifer Lopez, and Billy Idol. His newest batch of solo material is filled with some very diverse sounds and highlights his creative talent for playing percussion with distinct style. "Softly As in a Morning Sunrise" is a standout track on this disc and has a welcoming feel to it reminiscent of the early Santana days with a solid brass section embedded with Latin flair. Ulloa delivers with a clean, moving, and heartfelt vocal, primarily in the Spanish language. The arrangements on this album are also phenomenal, with great Latin-influenced acoustic work accompanied by world percussion, harmonica, and shakers to give the songs their full sound. The songs are sad and heartfelt, mostly about love but also about spirituality, as can be heard in "Jesus" and "Todo Por EL." The simple production of "Apuntale a la Verdad" effectively provides clean instruments and vocals while maintaining a great raw quality. "Tu y Tu Gracia" opens up the album with some fantastic acoustic work and heartfelt lyrics, and puts Ulloa's broad vocal range on display. "A Bit More" is the only English language track on the album that features more great acoustic work and the memorable chorus, "All I want is your soul, your love, your time, and a bit more." Overall, Marco Ulloa has put together an impressive album penetrable to both Spanish and non-Spanish speakers due his soothing and heartfelt vocals and well-crafted acoustic arrangements. Fans of Spanish language acoustic songs with world and Latin elements should definitely check this one out.

-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Marco Ulloa 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

RadioIndy is pleased to present Alessandro Buonpensiero with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Trentatre"

RadioIndy is pleased to present Alessandro Buonpensiero with a GrIndie Award for the CD "Trentatrè"
Alessandro Buonpensiero's "Trentatrè" is a fine Italian pop music release featuring soulful vocals backed by abundant rhythms and melodies. Right off the bat you will experience an energetic calmness from this album courtesy of Flavio's songbird voice and the delicate precision of the musicians behind him. This is a feel good album for sure, so expect smiles all around when you spin this one. The song writing and arranging are definitely a standout on this album. There are really nice melodies and harmonies in the vocals. The instrumentation is very quirky and plays off the lyrical line well. The album sounds great and focuses on the matter of highlighting the entertainment factor in the music. Highlights include the opener "Tu Siempre Seras," which has a nice intro, and when the vocals kick in, you know right away that your journey through a fun album has begun. The title track "Mi Nueva Razon" is another good one, with a nice melody and a sensitive side. There is a sort of twisted jazz element in this band's sound that combines itself with traditional Latin elements along with quirky electronic sounds and soundscapes. The big accomplishment in this album is a collection of songs that contains off the wall arrangements and sounds that not only challenge your ears, but entertain you at the same time. More simply put, the songs are catchy and original. The album was recorded with the sense of analog meets digital. It keeps you on your toes. You will also appreciate the variation in vocal sounds that compliment the arrangements accordingly from track to track. "La Víspera" is enjoyable, with a gorgeous guitar progression, great vocal performance, and some quirky nuances. "Rosas" has a tight beat, a bass line that grooves, and is extremely catchy. "Super Chido (Pt. 1)" has kind of a 70's cop or even secret agent sort of a feel, with some old school hip hop elements as well. If you enjoy Latin/alternative bands that push the envelope, you will not be disappointed with Yezve's "Monocultura."
-William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Yezve 's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Apuntale a la Verdad” by Marco Ulloa (Latin/World Artist from California (CA))

"Apuntale a la Verdad" is an excellent acoustic-driven release from singer/songwriter Marco Ulloa that features great Latin and world elements.
Check out Marco Ulloa's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“It All Belongs to Him” by Elizabeth Salvatico (Spiritual Artist from Pennsylvania(PA))

"It All Belongs to Him" is the outstanding, eclectic contemporary Christian solo debut from singer/songwriter Elizabeth Salvatico. Salvatico blends her own cultural diversity with the influence she gained from a mission trip to Kenya to craft songs with African and Latin, as well as gospel, blues, jazz, symphonic orchestra, and piano rock qualities. This album also has songs sung in English, Spanish, and in chant form from the Masai of Kenya, though, regardless of language, all of the songs are about glorifying God. Salvatico has an excellent vocal range and takes lead on these songs well, and these recordings also feature some great vocal accompaniment from the Wilmington Chester Mass Choir. "It All Belongs to Him" is well-produced, the vocals and arrangements clean and professional sounding. "The Masai Song" opens up the album with an all-encompassing track that begins with a pleasant chant from the Masai, then introduces rhythmic conga beats that are soon after accompanied by violin and piano, and the three instruments just jam for a while. Salvatico lends her native tongue to the title track, "It All Belongs to Him," and "Your Love (Tu Amor)," which features excellent Latin guitar and piano work as Salvatico praises God for his love, alternating between English and Spanish. All of the other tracks are strictly in English, and have a great piano rock feel to them. "It All Belongs to Him" is a musically and vocally impressive debut from Elizabeth Salvatico, and any fan of eclectic contemporary Christian music should check it out.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Elizabeth Salvatico's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

“Trentatrè” by Alessandro Buonpensiero (Latin Artist from Italy)

Jones, the leader of the group, is a saxophonist by trade and adds a smooth jazz element to the Latin jazz feel. His backing band, Mosaic, is incredible, tight and each member is held in high esteem in the Latin jazz circuit of the Southwest. Mosaic brings their wonderful talents on piano, flute, bass, and drums. Each member gets their solo opportunity, their time to lead the band and they all shine in their roles. "Invitation" is full of unselfish, improvisational and fun tracks. The underlying Latin feel of each song will give even the most unlikely of characters the urge to dance. The record is polished and crisp, with each note from each instrument sounding firm, compelling, and excellent. "Morning" opens things up with that classic and danceable Latin jazz sound with great piano and flute lines that gives you a feel for the entire album. "Favela" has a great layering of sounds with the Latin-infused piano, drum and flute, pauses a moment for a great drum solo, then picks up right where it left off. With "Invitation," Jeff Jones and Mosaic have created a great collaborative album full of Latin flare and intense solos from every instrument in the same vein of predecessors Tito Puente and Cal Tjader. Any fan of contemporary Latin jazz or, simply, any jazz fan, should add "Invitation" to their collection.
-Chris & the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Jeff Jones and Mosaic's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Fraccion de Segundo" by Anima (Latin artist from Honduras)

"Fracción de Segundo" is a Latin alternative pop album featuring beautiful melodies and and upbeat sensibility from Honduran band Anima. Anima combines the pop rock sound of the early Beatles, as well as of the '80s with a hint of Latin and directs it towards Latin audience – sort of like if Peter Gabriel or Sting sang in Spanish. Anima brings you a tremendous amount of diversity, not only as talented performers, but also as great songwriters and arrangers. The sound is full, with boundless interesting creative choices in each and every song. The quality of the recording is also very good, so the listener gets the full impact of the lyrics and the music. Highlights include "Cuando Te Vas," which opens with a wicked disco riff and drum machine, then switches to a softer, guitar-laden sound. "El Ayer" is a beautiful track that features a nice guitar progression and strings. "Aléjate" has a nice Rhodes organ progression then erupts into a melancholy rocker. With "Fracción de Segundo," Anima have created an impressive album that uniquely combines diverse genres to form a modern sound without losing the classic elements. This release is certainly an experience, as it comes with a music-filled CD as well as a step-by-step dance instruction DVD based upon the classes conducted by Johnny in the Southern California area. It is no secret that Latin music possesses a great amount of energy and flair, and the music from this collection is no exception. It's full of quirky percussion, hip turning beats, stabbing horns, and dance-style vocals. The production value is very good, as the album is mixed to play loud. Highlights include "Move Your Body," a track you can sing along with as it takes you through a sweaty house/pop musical experience. "Mamasita" has a thick, punchy beat, and tremendous sex appeal. "Johnny" is a whirlwind of beats, moves fast and challenges you to test your endurance. Albano's work is refined, polished, and fits very nicely with Latin rhythms and progressions. The sound of this album is original and non-traditional, pushing the envelope in both performance and creative choices. Each song almost has an individual personality attached to it that will stimulate your ears and intellect. The production value is very good as well, so you can hear each instrument clearly with no instrumental overlap as Albano takes you through this journey of heavily layered arrangements. Highlights include "Crazy Blues," a very quirky and atonal track with bizarre rhythms and a very unconventional arrangement. The title track, "Magic Corner," gets you moving right away with its lively rhythm and later incorporates a great sax solo and a killer bass line. "It's Like Fun" is probably the catchiest track with its Latin rhythms and upbeat nature that will instantly bring a smile to your face. "Magic Corner" is an impressive album that displays Albano's ability both as a composer and as a saxophonist. If you enjoy experimental jazz heavy on the Latin elements, pick up this album.
-William and the RadioIndy.com Reviewer Team
Check out Rudy Albano's music on RadioIndy.com with link to purchase and links to popular sites

"Del Norte Al Sur" by Corazon al Sur (Latin Artist from San Francisco, California(CA))

"Del Norte Al Sur" by Corazon al Sur is a tango album that goes straight for the heart. These are highly emotional songs that deal with heartache and frustration, set to beautiful melodies and musical arrangements. The vocal performances and musicianship are simply phenomenal. Singer Claudio Ortego's expressive and soothing voice, coupled with Stephanie Newsom's classic Tango style, fuse to produce a very magical, dreamy mood. Throw in Peter Newsom's fine guitar and bass work and you have a beautiful combination of sounds. The production value is excellent and the songs are nothing short of radio-ready. Highlights include "Volver," which flaunts a gorgeous piano progression and great range in the vocals. "El Dia Que Me Quieras" features some lovely and intelligent guitar work, complimented nicely by delicate piano and a classic vocal melody. "Sur" is a bit mysterious, and is subtle and delicate in the arrangement. The CD is filled with many elements of latin american rhythms, as well as Reggae, Jazz, and Classical, with a modern flair. Eduardo is a superior and well-balanced guitarist who has a feel for mood and tone. Eduardo's compositions are very interesting and innovative. The recording quality and production nicely provide a crystal clear recording that allows the fantastic guitar work to cut through the tracks nicely. "In the Sunken Garden" leads things off and sets the table nicely with a jazz/lounge feel and memorable guitar work. This collection exhibits a heavy world influence. Taking the lead on this CD is Ambrogio's impressive steel guitar work, backed by light percussion. "Bela Maria" introduces some diversity with its choral vocal arrangements. "Oh! São Paulo" is perhaps this CD's most outstanding track, with its memorable lead vocals and contagious rhythm section. The CD had us dancing to the traditional Latin groove. The horn and rhythm sections sound great throughout the CD. The band is very tight and impressive on this high quality recording. The songwriting and musical arrangement are very good. Mary's traditional-style vocals cap off the authentic Latin sound of the CD. We were blown away by the excellent horn section on tracks such as "Muriendo De Amor." We enjoyed the accordion work in "El Nuevo Rico." We found ourselves listening again-and-again to "Por Que?".
